What you should know about me...
Acknowledged by his peers as a leader in echocardiography, Timothy Thigpen has worked with clinicians, researchers and ultrasound manufacturers for over 20 years, helping them to improve their performance in markets around the world. Beginning in 1982 with some of the first stress echo exams, through the next decade with intra-operative transesophageal, to today’s advances in 3D echocardiography, Tim has been at the forefront of emerging markets. His breadth of experience in echocardiography affords him a unique perspective on the opportunities and consequences of new ultrasound technologies.

After graduating from Seattle University's School of Science and Engineering with a B.S. in Diagnostic Ultrasound, Tim earned an MBA from the Lake Forest Graduate School of Management. He has served on the boards of The Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonography and The American Society of Echocardiography. He has co-authored over a dozen original manuscripts on various aspects of echocardiography. After holding several clinical and research positions, Tim gained his commercial ultrasound experience with Acuson in 1988, where he held management positions in clinical applications, product development and strategic marketing.

Tim is also President of Insonoart, Inc, a web publishing firm active at the intersection of the medical arts, science & the health care consumer.

Mindray 2010 Outlook

Mindray executives presented their full year 2009 earnings and shared their outlook for 2010.

First some points from their 2009 operations:

-China sales were up 24.8% in 2009

-Outside of China their next strongest sales gains were in Brazil, India & Russia

-Sales growth in USA and western Europe was essentially flat

2009-2010 EchoChief Economic Survey Results

A year ago we posted a survey asking the community to comment on how the economic down turn had affected the volume of studies done in their lab.

52% reported their lab volumes had diminished. With 32% saying the volumes were down mildly, while another 20% said their study numbers were down significantly.

Those who respond that their lab volume had not been affected, 35%, were located primarily in large metropolitan areas.… Continue

I finally got around to downloading some snaps of things I like to image besides hearts. I have made many of those as well and can't keep anything! I plan on keeping my first lamp though! Thank you for this wonderful professional website. I have enjoyed many hours of learning, as I hope my thirst will never run dry.

It will be interesting (or dreadful) when healthcare reform is all said and done to see how each modality will fare. The only good thing I am seeing in the House version is a negating of the 21% reduction from the SGR.
