2009-2010 EchoChief Economic Survey Results
A year ago we posted a survey asking the community to comment on how the economic down turn had affected the volume of studies done in their lab.
52% reported their lab volumes had diminished. With 32% saying the volumes were down mildly, while another 20% said their study numbers were down significantly.
Those who respond that their lab volume had not been affected, 35%, were located primarily in large metropolitan areas.…

I looked over the year that was 2009 in the cardiovascular ultrasound industry and decided the future was more important to focus on than history.
Not that history is unimportant. I just think it can serve a better purpose by being used to predict future trends. Trends that will lead to growth and new standards in the decade to come are what I focus on.

The HIMSS surveyed 51 USA hospitals in June 2009 with regards to networking and IT support of "intelligent medical device products". This includes ultrasound systems.
For the coming year only about %25 of the respondents had any plans to purchase new ultrasound systems.

A survey of 285 hospital chief executive officers conducted by AMN Healthcare, a USA healthcare staffing company, has just been released.
In the past year the majority of respondents have kept their hiring levels about the same. The only group that will see an increase in the next 6 months is physicians.
